The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for an impending storm due to hit Southwest and West Iceland tonight.
RÚV reports strong winds up of up to 28 metres per second and substantial snow and sleet are forecast. Winds up to 50 m/s are expected on mountainous roads and black ice is expected on Hellisheiði mountain pass and Þrengsli.
A note to travellers, icy road conditions are expected at Hólasandur and Dettifossvegur. If you are planning to drive in Iceland today or tomorrow, please check in with Safe Travel to make sure you are up to date with the latest traffic information and remain vigilant.
