Roughly 915.000 foreign visitors have travelled through Iceland via Keflavík airport so far this year, reports RÚV.

That’s roughly a fourth more than recorded in the same period last year, or 176.000 more tourists.

There was a 34% increase in the number of Americans and Canadians visiting Iceland, and a 32% increase in tourists from the United Kingdom.

This year 372.000 Icelanders have travelled abroad, roughly 9% more than in the same time last year. Since there are only 325.000 Icelanders, some Icelanders clearly left the country more than once.
