Ása Ástardóttir Submits Song To Eurovision In Switzerland

Published October 27, 2014

Singer and songwriter Ása Ástardóttir, from Iceland, has written a song for the Swiss pre-selection of Eurovision. The song is called “Don’t Stop The Madness”. In an accompanying press release, Ása is quoted as saying that she has wanted to take part in “this amazing competition” ever since she was a child. Now that she has a wonderful song, she says, she just wants to be “the next (Conchita) Wurst”.

Apparently, the pre-selection process in Switzerland is quite open and democratic, as the public votes directly on music videos published online by the competitors. “It’s not only a hidden jury who chooses,” Ása said, adding that she loves it, and hopes the same system will be established in Iceland soon.
