The Fire Brigade were called to Laugarvegur yesterday to extinguish a fluffy polar bear statue that stood in front of a souvenir shop, reports Vísir

Although the fire reached the building’s facade, no major damage was assessed after the fire was put out.

The firefighters confirm that the polar bear however, is quite far gone.

There have been no official statements explaining how the fire began though the incident is expected to be investigated by the police.
