Television network Showtime plan to remake award-winning Icelandic dramedy World’s End, reports the Hollywood Reporter

The show will be adapted to English by Jonathan Ames, known for Bored To Death, who plans to both pen the script and co-executive produce.

In Iceland the programme was an hour-long nine part series but Showtime are looking to take a half hour approach to the show.

World’s End is a show about a high school English teacher, struggling with life, love and his disaffected students, who spins out of control and winds up committed to a mental institution, where, ironically, he finally feels normal and becomes the leader of an inmate revolt

World’s End, which was shown on Icelandic TV in 2011, received four Edda nominations including TV Show Of The Year.
