Polling indicates that levels of party support in upcoming municipal elections are shifting.

According to a new poll, MBL reports, most respondents want to see Social Democrat city councilperson Dagur B. Eggertsson as the next mayor of Reykjavík. The Social Democrats also enjoy the highest level of party support, at 28%.

This is up from the same poll last month, wherein 23.5% said they intended to vote for the Social Democrats. At the same time, 24.4% now say they would vote for the Independence Party in city elections – down from 28.4% in the last poll.

Support for Bright Future saw a rise in between polls, going from 21% to 24.8%. Meanwhile, the Pirate Party has taken a drop from 12% to 9.1%.

Where other parties are concerned, support changed little. The Left-Greens saw a dip in support between polls, from 9% to 8.6%, whilst support for the Progressives went from 3% to 2%.
