Reykjavík To Take Part In “Earth Hour”

The city of Reykjavík will not turn on any street lights until 21:30 on Saturday, in honour of Earth Hour.

According to an announcement on the city’s website, they also encourage those who are able to shut off their own lights between 20:30 and 21:30 to do so.

The international organisers of the event will kick things off in New Zealand, on March 29, at 20:30 local time, and hope to see an Earth Hour in every time zone for a full 24-hour-period.

Facebook group has already been put together and, if that wasn’t incentive enough, the cast and director of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have joined the effort. In light of this, the superhero himself has also gotten involved, as evidenced by the following video:
