Published March 17, 2014

Over 50.000 Icelanders, roughly 21% of the electorate, have now signed a petition calling upon the Icelandic government to hold a referendum on whether or not to continue accession negotiations with the EU.

Vísir reports that although the momentum of signatures has slowed in the past days, 25.000 signatures were collected in the petition’s first two days.
