Cat lovers across Iceland united yesterday to raise funds to cover an operation for a kitten run over by a car, reports Vísir.

Bósi the kitten, who is roughly six months old, was run over yesterday and very seriously injured in the accident. The operation needed to save his life cost 200,000 ISK which was far more than the owners could afford. The family who own Bósi quickly set up a Facebook page to ask for help covering the cost of the operation.

It took only 10 hours to raise the entire cost of the operation and Bósi is now recovering. The vet has confirmed that the outlook is positive.

“We will take very good care of him when he comes home,” said 8 year old Móeiður, who co-owns Bósi with her siblings “We will make sure he doesn’t get into this kind of an accident again.”

As a preventative measure the siblings have confirmed they will try to teach Bósi the rules of the road when he recovers.
