From Iceland — Police Investigating Possible Human Trafficking

Police Investigating Possible Human Trafficking

Published August 30, 2013

An Icelandic man and a foreign woman were arrested yesterday in connection with a prostitution investigation, possibly involving human trafficking.
Dozens of men are thought to have bought service from the woman lately and the arrested man is suspected to have made profit from it, mbl.is reports.
The suspected “customers” have been questioned in the past few days and the two suspects were interrogated yesterday. The investigation began two months ago when the woman arrived in Iceland and suspicion rose that she might be the victim of human trafficking. That suspicion has not been confirmed yet, according to mbl.is.
The woman started advertising massages online shortly after she arrived and was operating in the Reykjavík area.
Police are now looking into whether she has any connection with other foreign prostitutes in Iceland.
