From Iceland — Huge Tourist Spike In June

Huge Tourist Spike In June

Published July 14, 2013

June 2013 saw 25% more tourists fly into Iceland than the same month the previous year, RÚV reports, with a total of 120,000 people enjoying their holiday in the country.
The Icelandic Tourist Board regularly compiles data on travelers passing through Keflavík airport, and recent numbers of tourists in transit hint toward this summer being a very good one for the tourism industry. The summer of 2012 had broken records for the number of tourists in Iceland, but last June there were just 90,000 tourists in the country. 2013 is on track to break the record set in 2012.
The Icelandic Tourist Board does not take into consideration the large number of tourists arriving in Iceland via cruise ship, of which there were some 27,000 in June alone.
