Apparently, it was Ryan Gosling’s look-alike on his way to a funeral who had the rear-end collision on Wednesday, not the actor himself.
“I’ve often been told I look like him,” Júlíus Pétur Guðjohnsen told mbl.is, who initially reported about the incident but corrected the story on Thursday morning with an apology.
“I was just on my way to my grandmother’s funeral when it happened, wearing a suit and sunglasses, when I rear-ended another car,” Júlíus explained. His brother was with him and the two of them exchanged phone numbers and had a quick conversation with the couple from the other car. That’s when he was seen and mistaken for the actor, famous for roles such as an impeccable getaway driver in the 2011 film, Drive.
Júlíus said that when he was teaching at a high school the female students often commented on how much he looked like Gosling.
“Even my mum has said we look alike. I don’t see it myself but since I’ve often heard this, it’s easy to understand why someone would make a mistake like this when I’m all dressed up.”
