From Iceland — Series of Earthquakes Hits Southwest

Series of Earthquakes Hits Southwest

Published May 10, 2013

Over one hundred earthquakes have occurred in the past 48 hours along the Fuglasker rock off the southwest shore of Reykjanes, RÚV reports.
Most of the earthquakes have been minor, but two with a magnitude over 4 occurred just after two o’clock this morning. The strongest earthquake to strike so far measured 4.5 and was felt all along the southwest corner last night. No damage to personal property or injuries to persons was reported.
Gunnar Björn Guðmundsson of the Icelandic Meteorological Office confirmed that the earthquakes could continue for some time but that seismic activity in this area is common.
