An Australian woman was raped and brutally assaulted in the east end of Reykjavík ten days ago, Vísir reports.
The victim and suspected rapist did not know one another before the incident. The victim was out partying downtown and accepted a ride with the accused rapist. Afterwards he dropped the victim off at her hostel, and the staff immediately contacted the police who took her to the emergency room. The victim left the country the following day.
Police have stated that the investigation is in its final stages. A man accused of the rape has been arrested and placed on a no-fly list until May 14.
