Warning Against Sea-Swimming Next Week

Heads up sea-swimmers! Nauthólsvík beach might be full of shit from April 15-22, Vísir reports.
The Reykjavík Health Authority has issued a warning to habitual sea-swimmers that there is a risk for faecal bacteria contamination in the bay of Nauthólsvík, Reykjavík’s public beach, as repairs on sewage pumps are taking place next week. Pumps are being replaced at the Hafnarbraut pumping station in Kópavogur, which empties directly into the bay. Therefore, swimmers are advised against dipping their toes until the new ones are up and running, or do so at their own risk.
This may be a huge bummer for those die-hard sea-swimming addicts, but you know what they say – shit happens.
