Union of Public Servants Calling For Shortened Work Week, Equal Pay Among Genders

Published March 19, 2013

The Union of Public Servants (SFR) is placing demands on the government, trade unions and employers to take action against the gender wage gap and to shorted the working week to 36 hours, RÚV reports.
These two demands have be born of SFR’s annual general meeting. The meeting also resulted in resolutions on the work-week for shift workers never exceeding 80% of that of daytime workers, and emphasized the importance of addressing the gender wage gap for hospital workers, who are SFR members and 70% women.
