Police Stop Marijuana Shipment to Ísafjörður

Published February 14, 2013

A joint effort of Westfjord police, Customs, and the Reykjavík police resulted in stopping the delivery of 10 grams of marijuana from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður, RÚV reports.
The illegal substance was being flown on a regularly scheduled flight between the capital and the northwestern town. Police questioned a man waiting at the airport in Ísafjörður and he subsequently admitted to awaiting a drug shipment.
There have been no reports of the degree of punishment the intended recipient of the drugs will receive, nor whether his accomplice in Reykjavík has also been caught.
