The youngest of the children involved is currently 13-years-old and the most recent case was opened on 8 February. All of the children involved have been interviewed and the cases are underway, with some of them soon to be sent to the Prosecutor General.
Instances of sexual abuse against children in Iceland have been commonplace in the news in recent months, with the high-profile case of Karl Vignir Þorsteinsson setting the stage for increased dialogue about the prevalence of such gross abuse.
