From Iceland — Icelandic MP To Visit GOP Convention

Icelandic MP To Visit GOP Convention

Published August 31, 2012

A member of the Icelandic parliament will be among the guests at the Republican National Convention this year.
This year’s convention, which is being held in Tampa, Florida, is expected to have thousands of delegates, members of the press, and general attendees. DV reports that among those guests will be Independence Party MP Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir.
Ragnheiður’s attendance is based on the fact that she was recently voted into the policy committee of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists (AECR). As a conservative group, their attendance among American conservatives is not unusual and, in the event of a Republican win, could lay the foundations for cooperative work between American and European conservatives.
AECR defines their work as “campaigns for radical reform of the European Union and aims to spread conservative values.”
