From Iceland — Keflavík Airport Wins Top Award

Keflavík Airport Wins Top Award

Published February 16, 2012

Keflavík International Airport received a repeat of the honour it has been bestowed in years previous; being voted the best small airport.
The award, given by Airports Council International (ACI), was for the category of best airport for 2 million passengers or less. In this category, Keflavík edged out Mazatlan, Quebec City, and Upington.
RÚV reports that Keflavík actually came out on top in terms of service in a poll, but being placed in the smaller airports category, was not able to come out on top of airports overall.
This would not be the first time Keflavík was given such honours. It was ranked the best airport in Europe in 2009, came in second in the same category 2010, and was ranked third in terms of best airports in the world in 2004.
The airports in the contest were judged in terms of overall customer satisfaction, helpfulness, courtesy, ease of connection to other flights, a pleasant environment, cleanliness, and how long passengers have to wait during security checks.
