From Iceland — Has The Worm Of Lagarfljót Been Spotted?

Has The Worm Of Lagarfljót Been Spotted?

Published February 6, 2012

One of Iceland’s most popular mythical beings – the Worm of Lagarfljót – may have been caught on video.
The beast itself is purported to live in the east Iceland lake Lagarfljót, with sightings going as far back as the 14th century. However, no compelling evidence for the creature’s existence has ever been presented – until now.
RÚV reports that Hjörtur Kjerúlf took a video of what appears to be a long object moving in a snake-like motion across the current of the river feeding into the lake. The video can be viewed in the linked article.
While RÚV points out that more sceptical readers might conclude the object is a piece of netting, it has still not been conclusively disproven to be the Worm of Lagarfljót.
