Last Day Of Christmas Arrives

Today is the last day of Christmas and, in keeping with tradition, there will be a number of bonfires and fireworks in Reykjavík.
In the capital, there are three locations to choose from.
In the east side of town, there will be festivities in Grafarholt and Grafarvogur. In Grafarholt, the celebrations will begin at the church Guðríðarkirkja at 19:30, will there will be song, a visit from Santa, fireworks, and a bonfire. For those in the east side looking for something earlier, Grafarvogur’s celebrations begin at 17:00 at Gufunesbæinn. This will include hot cocoa, song, the bonfire, and fireworks.
On the west side of town, festivities commence at 18:00 at the KR football field. At ten past, city councilperson Gísli Marteinn will lead a marching band to the beach at Ægissíða, where kleinur and hot cocoa will be offered. There, a bonfire and fireworks will be had, with special guest Guðmundur Steingrímsson making an appearance.
