Wealthy Businessman Donates Legs Of Lamb To Food Bank

Published December 15, 2011

One of Iceland’s pharmaceutical giants has again donated a sizable amount of legs of lamb to the Fjölskylduhjálp food bank.
Christmas this year is proving a difficult time for struggling Icelandic families, many of whom have been forced to rely on food donations in order to have Christmas dinner this year. Among the more active food banks in the capital area is Fjölskylduhjálp.
While many Icelanders make donations to Fjölskylduhjálp, especially this time of year, Icelandic businessman Róbert Wessman intends to repeat the donation he made last year, DV reports: 65 legs of lamb.
Grapevine readers interested in helping these families as well are welcome to do so. Fjölskylduhjálp’s website offers three options:
You can make a direct monetary donation through a bank transfer to the account 546-26-6609, under the kennitala 660903-2590. You can also be billed 100 ISK through your phone bill by sending the text message FHI to the number 1900. This will be automatically billed to you every month, although you can stop the charges by texting FHI STOP to the same number. You can also take food directly to Fjölskylduhjálp at Eskihlíð 2 – 4.
