From Iceland — Icelander Sets World Record

Icelander Sets World Record

Published August 5, 2011

Skater Hlynur Gunnarsson received recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records for maintaining his balance on two wheels of a skateboard longer than anyone else.
Vísir reports that Hlynur broke the record last December, balancing on two wheels of a skateboard for 3 minutes and 5.2 seconds. One month later, another skater broke that record, performing the same stunt for 4 minutes and 55 seconds.
Hlynur, however, does not intend to let this new record stand for long. He contends that his personal record is 15 minutes and 16 seconds (proof of which can be seen below).
Apparently the ambition to break world records runs in the family. Hlynur’s father, Gunnar Martin Úlfsson, broke a world record in 1989 by sailing from Reykjavík to Akranes in a boat made entirely from newspapers, glue and lacquer.
