From Iceland — More Airwaves Arists Announced

More Airwaves Arists Announced

Published June 22, 2011

Organisers of the Iceland Airwaves music festival have announced still more artists set to perform:

“From the USA there’s Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. with their charmingly catchy indie-pop, and prog rock and death metal inspired instrumental outfit Secret Chiefs 3. With so much fantastic music coming from the Nordic countries, we of course have some good stuff for you. From Norway we have songstress Jenny Hval whose moving and unique voice paired with poetic lyrics are sure to wow you. Her fellow countrymen, Team Me, will serve us a big dose of fun folk pop, Norwegian style. From Finland we bring you K-X-P, a krautian trio with sweaty and steady beats to get your feet moving. The last of our international acts announced this time around is Berlin’s sound manipulator Touchy Mob with his gorgeous folk-techno.
“And from our little island in the north we bring you the unique singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ólöf Arnalds, whose voice has been described as ethereal, and otherworldly and we couldn’t agree more. And since we’re talking Icelandic artists, why not keep it in the family? Ólöf’s cousin Ólafur Arnalds is also a multi-instrumentalist and a composer of bewitching soundscapes. Then there’s Berndsen, the red-haired electro-pop artist, whose videos you should really check out and Oculus with music that spans everything from deep percussive minimal to synth driven techno. Just Another Snake Cult is the primary musical outlet of multi-instrumentalist and home-recordist Þórir Bogason and last but not least we have Hoffman, an experimental rock outfit from the Westman Islands.”

Readers are encouraged to either buy a ticket or get an Icelandair package, which includes tickets, a round-trip flight, and hotel accommodation.
