From Iceland — Icelandic Band To Support Special Olympics

Icelandic Band To Support Special Olympics

Published April 12, 2011

Icelandic reggae band Hjálmar will be holding a concert to raise money for Iceland’s participation in the Special Olympics.
The concert, with opening act Valdimar, will be held Friday 15 April at NASA. Doors open at 21:00, and tickets are 1,500 ISK. All proceeds will go directly to the Icelandic Special Olympics team.
According to a press release sent from the concert organisers, Hjálmar “looks forward to holding this concert and helping Iceland’s special athletes see their dream come true”. With a good turn-out, they say, the band can raise an unlimited amount of money which can make a real difference for the competitors.
To this end, the band encourages everyone – whether they are fans of Hjálmar or just want to support Iceland’s Special Olympics team – to attend.
The Disabled People’s Sports Association (ÍF) welcomes the band’s decision, pointing out that raising funds is always a critical part of such events. Both ÍF and Special Olympics Iceland thank Hjálmar for the band’s committment of support.
This event also has its own Facebook page.
