The film Backyard has been gaining greater international attention, as it has been chosen to be a part of two different film festivals.
A press release from the director, Árni Sveinsson, states that the movie has been chosen to be shown at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). This festival brings in about 400 movies from 60 different countries, and shows them to an audience of about 150,000.
Shortly after sending this announcement, the director also informed the media that Backyard had also been chosen for the Karlovy Vary film festival in the Czech Republic. This event has become one of the largest film festivals in Europe.
The movie itself, which features a number of Reykajvík’s leading music acts, will be available on DVD in Iceland this June, as well as a CD of the music in the movie. The DVD for overseas release is due to come out this September.
