Reykjavík Arts Festival Programme 2011 Announced

Published March 31, 2011

The full schedule and line-up for the Reykjavík Arts Festival has now been made public.
Set to take place from 20 May to 5 June, a press release from the organisers says that there will be “unforgettable moments” this year.
“The performing arts are a prominent feature of this year‘s programme, which is best described as a feast of music and dance, brimming with exciting concerts of all kinds, striking dance performances and colourful theatre experiences for all ages,” the organisers promise.
Part of the excitement is due to the fact that some events will be taking place at the Harpa music hall, due to be finished construction this spring. One such event will be when German tenor Jonas Kaufmann performs with the Iceland Sympnony Orchestra at a gala concert in Harpa’s main concert hall. Another superstar of the classical world, the beloved American soprano Barbara Bonney, will also perform a solo recital at the Festival on June 5.
