USA Today Puts Iceland in “Top Ten Destinations to Watch in 2010”

Published December 14, 2009

A new article appearing in USA Today goes down a list of countries “poised to be where the action is” in 2010, and names Iceland among them.
The article correctly points out that there is a very favorable exchange rate in Iceland, whereas before it was once almost prohibitively expensive for budget travellers. “With 10,000 waterfalls, geo-thermal pools galore, and a nightlife and music scene that draws crowds from around the world, there are plenty of ways to stretch each dollar,” it says in part, adding that unlike most travel destinations, which saw a dip in tourism last year, Iceland saw an increase.
Also of note, USA Today points out, is that Iceland Express announced that it will begin flights between New York in Reykjavík in June. “With two carriers to choose from, we’re hoping to see a summer travel fare war fit for the Viking ancestors of Iceland,” the article concludes.
