Iceland to Sign EXPO 2010 Agreement with China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will today sign an agreement with Chinese authorities to take part in the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.
A statement from the ministry says that Iceland’s participation in the exhibition will be utilized to draw attention to Iceland’s energy use, workforce and culture. Under theme of “Pure energy, healthy living”, the ministry also hopes to find business opporunities for Icelandic companies.
The exhibition takes place every five years, and this year some 400,000 people are expected to attended each day. At the time of the previous exhibition, in Aichi, Japan, the Scandinavian countries were grouped together under one exhibition.
“Icelandair’s support of the project will work in conjuction with the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” says the statement in part “in cooperation with the Trade Council of Iceland and the Iceland Design Centre to support the market expansion of Icelandic artists, designers and inventors into Asia.”
