If you missed our recent print issues, here are some new spots in town you might not know about.

yuyu
We’re going a bit more non-traditional with this New In Town; we hope you’ll forgive us. This New In Town doesn’t have a permanent location — yet — just a spot on the web. yuyu matcha was founded by three friends who all have a connection to Japan and wanted to bring authentic matcha to Reykjavík. After celebrating their first pop-up at Höfuðstöðin, they’re planning for a matcha workshop and more pop-ups, plus the debut of their online store. Whether matcha-curious or matcha-preparing-curious, yuyu are the new experts in town. ISH

Tempó
Laugavegur 2, 101 Reykjavík
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 to 23:00
I’d venture to say Reykjavík has some really solid burgers: Le KocK, Vitabar, 2Guys, Yuzu, just to name a few. Now, we’re covering Tempó. These guys came onto the scene a few months back, so forgive us for just getting around to it now. Despite their formidable peers, Tempó emerges with unique flavours: the Viddi Cowboy (BBQ, bacon bits, pulled pork), the Broski (triple cheese, onion jam), the Cabbagehead (quadruple cheese, cucumbers wrapped in cabbage). Their burgers are, honestly, pretty cheap for a solid burger, and they’re open until 23:00. Perfect for a late-night bite. ISH

280 Bakarí
Klapparstígur 37, 101 Reykjavík
Opening hours: Every day, 07:00-17:00
In the former spot of the last video rental in Iceland, Aðalvideoleigan, rises 280. The bakery offers classics, such as buns and rugbrauð, as well as exciting treats that are rarely found in Iceland before, like the Italian cornetto. The bakery pulls its name from the temperature of their ovens — 280°C — and, in a moment of kismet, their branding colour is a shade of blue denoted by Pantone 280 C. With a sold-out first day and excitement still churning, everything with this bakery feels like it was meant to be. ISH

NATA Reykjavík
Skólavörðustígur 6b, 101 Reykjavík
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00-18:00; Sunday, 11:00-17:00
Have you ever found yourself wandering Skólavörðustígur and thought, “This rainbow-coloured road is severely lacking a Portuguese gourmet shop!” Well, don’t you worry. Your thoughts have been heard, and your prayers have been answered. Meet: NATA Reykjavík. The newest store on Skóló is hitting the ground running, immediately offering special-order Christmas treats, alongside Portuguese delicacies and at least 13 different types of sausages. Desfrutar! Osteria Bari
Hafnarstræti 9, 101 Reykjavík
Opening hours: Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday, 17:00 to 23:00; Friday & Saturday, 17:00 to 00:00
The Italian “osteria” is a place for food and great wine, often opting for a short menu of dishes to be shared by the table. Osteria Bari is conceived by the couple behind Mikado, and presents this concept through a curated wine menu and an array of bites to be shared. With chef Cornel G. Popa at the helm, the menu offers calamari, pink hummus, pizzas, and more (alongside delicious wines, of course). ISH
