Sigur Rós’s ‘Kveikur’ Receives Foreign Critical Acclaim

Sigur Rós’s newest album, ‘Kveikur,’ which was officially released on the 17th of June has received critical acclaim around the world. Metacritic.com lists the album with an overall “Metascore” of 80 out of 100 based on a sample of 27 critics.
According to The Guardian, “There’s an edge of menace that wasn’t there before, and the dirt beneath their fingernails seems to suit them.”
The Observer, however, gives ‘Kveikur’ a 40 out of 100, adding, “The trouble is, much of it still sounds about as vital as Coldplay Babelfished into Icelandic.” While haters gon’ hate, long-term fans can expect to find the album both challenging and satisfying.
If you are still streaming the album from Sigur Rós’s website as Parker Yamasaki suggested in this Grapevine article, an MP3 download is now available on the same website.
