Restaurant Pick: Flame Restaurant Opens With Flare
Sam O'Donnell

Flame Restaurant, the new, high-class establishment on Katrínartún, opened on Thursday with a lavish party. Free champagne flowed while a professional crooner sang traditional Icelandic songs.

The Teppanyaki chefs fried up delicious fare, including chicken, seafood, and beef. After everyone had gone through the line a few times, the bartender put on a show, juggling bottles, stacking cups, and showing off his flair bar tending skills. Think Tom Cruise in Cocktail, but much cooler.

Teppanyaki literally means iron fried, and the technique lives up to the name. The chefs at Flame Restaurant cook the food on a flat iron grill, then cover it in oil and light it on fire. It’s quite the spectacle, perfect for celebrating a wedding anniversary, a birthday, or just going for a wonderful time. There are thirty-two seats around the Teppanyaki grill, so bring all your friends, or set up a party with your coworkers.
