An avalanche warning has been issued for some parts of the country, as snow will continue to blanket the north and the east of Iceland.
Vísir reports that high winds and snowfall will continue to sweep across the north and east in Iceland. As a result, some roads will prove challenging as best to travel on, in particular around Þverárfjall, Breiðdalsheiði and Öxi.
Winds could reach speeds of up to 20 m/s, and snowfall with strong gusts will continue until at least tomorrow afternoon.
In fact, an avalanche warning has been issued for the area around Tröllaskaga, in North Iceland, where accumulated snow and steep slopes have created a very precarious situation.
If you are planning on traveling through the east or north of Iceland over the next 48 hours, please check the Icelandic Met Office first to assess road conditions. If you do come upon a closed road in your travels, please respect the closure and do not attempt to drive through the area anyway.
