A hostage situation in Kópavogur last night came to a close this morning, police report.
Four police squad cars were called to the scene of an apartment building in Kópavogur this morning, Vísir reports. One man had allegedly held another captive, armed with an axe and a knife, over the course of the night.
The two were not unfamiliar with each other: the hostage was the landlord of the captor. According to sources who spoke to Vísir, the captor was due to be evicted, and was apparently unhappy with the decision.
Whilst the exact details are unknown, the conflict was resolved peacefully, with the captor led out in handcuffs. Police also found a corn snake at the scene, which was said to belong to the captor as well. The snake was removed from the scene, although its fate is still unknown.
