Iceland-based automated clearing house (ACH) provider Rapyd has implemented a new chargeback process, stipulating that information regarding transaction reversals must delivered in English, or an equivalent translation, RÚV reports.
The changes are scheduled to take effect on December 1.
In an email sent by Rapyd to merchants, the ACH provider claims that until now, Rapyd’s chargeback team has assisted in translating data, adding explanations in English. Under the new system, the information will be sent directly to the payment services Visa, Mastercard and Amex) without staff involvement.
Former professor of Icelandic Eiríkur Rögnvaldsson mentioned this new policy in the Facebook group “Málspjall”, critiquing the change. He emphasised the recent Rapyd statement, which claimed that the company “has deep roots” in Icelandic claim, chastising the policy.
