Icelanders have been talking endlessly about the coming storm on Twitter. It’s all over Vísir, Rúv, and other news media outlets. As of 11:00 AM, the air is calm, peaceful, and quiet. Almost too quiet.

Some are saying that the eerie silence means there will be no storm. Others are certain that this is merely the calm before the storm. But make no mistake about it, the society is gonna be on lockdown from 16:00. Check out what Icelanders are saying about the storm below.

“It’s so peaceful outside right now, and it’s freaking me out. It’s a real ‘calm before the storm’ feeling”

“Is the weather as crazy as they predicted?”

“The guy in the bicycle outfit who took the elevator with me this morning literally shivered in anticipation as to whether I would ask him ‘wow, are you planning on cycling in this weather?'”

“Me: HAVE YOU HEARD THIS?
“Mom: no?
“Me: *reads 45 news articles about bad weather this morning* THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM, THE SILENCE IS MADDENING!
“Mom *watching Facebook video*: mhm”
