The outlook for the workweek in Iceland looks pretty good, but the weekend will bring rains to virtually every region of the country.
According to the latest forecast from the Icelandic Met Office, the weather today, tomorrow and Thursday shows partially to mostly sunny skies for the majority of the county, with the exception of the southeast. There, clouds will be gathering, with rains to start by midday Wednesday.
Winds in the western portion of the country may begin to pick up the pace on Thursday, reaching speeds of 10-15m/s for the southwest, but remaining in the single digits for the rest of the country.
All this may change by midday Friday. At that time, rains are predicted to start falling over every region of the country except the northeast, gaining in volume over the weekend, but petering out by Sunday evening.
Whenever you are planning to travel around Iceland, it is generally good practice to check the weather site and road conditions before you get behind the wheel—it could save you considerable time and expense.
