This marks the 46th death in Iceland to the coronavirus since the pandemic first reached here, and the 13th death within the past roughly seven months.

In other news, now that quarantine regulations have been relaxed, chief epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason is cautioning people to not get sample tested without due cause, Vísir reports. There will likely be a significant uptake in sample taking in the days to come, and so it is very important to not tie up the lines and increase the workloads of health care workers if a person otherwise has no symptoms of having the virus. Such symptoms include persistent dry cough, fever and chills, aches and fatigue, and a loss of smell or taste.

Where daily numbers are concerned, there were 1,567 recorded domestic cases of the coronavirus in Iceland yesterday, plus an additional 43 at the border. This marks a new single-day record for reported coronavirus cases in Iceland.

189 are in border screening quarantine, with 11,593 in isolation. There are currently 35 people in hospital with the coronavirus and three in intensive care.

285,974 people aged five and older have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus as of January 26th, comprising 80% of this age group, or 78% of the total population. 187,623 have also received booster shots.

Getting a booster shot is a very straightforward process, with no barcode required. More information on that can be found here. For your first and second vaccination, you can sign up here.

As always, be sure to abide the domestic restrictions and border regulations.

More information can be found at covid.is/data and, in Icelandic, below. Bear in mind that it may take some time for daily figures to be updated in languages other than Icelandic.
