Hymnalaya is a one-year-old band from Reykjavík, Iceland, consisting of four main members; Einar Kristinn Þorsteinsson (guitar & vocals), Gísli Hrafn Magnússon (guitar), Kristofer Rodriguez Svönuson (percussion) and Þórdís Björt Sigþórsdóttir (violin). They are accompanied by a whole host of great musicians that play in the brass and strings sections. The sound of Hymnalaya is rooted in old hymns which they have combined with indie, ethnic and ambient textures. Hymnalaya released their debut album in February which can be downloaded for free online.
