From Iceland — Hold On To Your Visa Cards... Björk Is Playing Airwaves

Hold On To Your Visa Cards… Björk Is Playing Airwaves

Published March 19, 2015

Björk has been announced to play at Iceland Airwaves 2015.

If that’s all you need to know to go and buy a ticket, then yep, cool, we feel you. You can do that here. We’ll wait for you. No, really, it’s no problem! Take your time. Here’s the Lionsong video to play whilst you’re buying your ticket. See you in five!

Okay, good, congrats, you did it! Welcome to the party! Here’s some more good news.

John Grant is also returning to Airwaves to play with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, with Father John Misty and Verité joining him on the American team.
From the UK, we’ll be seeing the reformed post-punk pioneers The Pop Group, as well as a couple we haven’t heard as yet – Låpsley and La Priest.

These guys join the previously announced bands: Ariel Pink, Perfume Genius, GusGus, Hinds, M-Band, East India Youth, Tonik Ensemble, dj flugvél og geimskip, and loads more.

The new native bands announced include Vök, Sóley, Muck, Hekla and Agent Fresco, whose drummer can be seen bashing out the lineup announcement in various parts of Reykjavík below.

Like in previous years, some of these shows will obviously be crazily in demand, so Airwaves have a system for picking up extra tickets.

Björk will play at 3pm on November 7th, with tickets handed out on a first-come-first-served basis at noon on Friday, November 6th, in the Media Center at Harpa. It’s the same system for John Grant – people can pick up that extra free ticket for his show on Thursday, November 5 at noon, also at Harpa.

Björk will also play a separate warm-up show in Reykjavík, on November 3rd. Ticket sales for that start at noon on Friday March 27th (GMT) at harpa.is. But Airwaves ticket-holders will have a chance to get in first via a 24 hour pre-sale period, starting at noon on March 26th. Airwaves ticket holders will receive an e-mail on how to buy tickets.
