Moto Boy! Give us a short introduction of yourself! Why should we check out your show?
Well, I’m not going to sweet-talk myself and sell the show with the usual promo stuff. Let’s just say I’m the greatest singer since Julio Iglesias, and better looking, taller, handsomer, the works. Seriously, it’s all about the beauty, the romance, the gorgeous darkness and love of life, and anyone interested in that—or the handsome singer thing—should drop by and join me in whatever the show turns out to be.
Next week, you will fly STHLM-RVK. We assume you’ll be making an iPod playlist. Give us ten tracks you would put on it (and if you want to include a sentence on why for each one, then by all means do).
Ok, sure, I actually don’t have an iPod still, though I’m going to get one sometime. But I love Spotify, so here’s what I’ll be listening to through that.
1.Lio – You Go To My Head – Just an amazing version of that song, her voice, the beat, the strings, this is how I will do stuff in the future! I love Lio, she´s so cool
2.Marilyn Monroe – When I Fall In Love – This is her one and only song, if she wasn’t already wonderful, this alone should guarantee her a slot among the gods.
3.Björk – All Is Full Of Love (from the Volta tour – live) – This is so amazingly beautiful, there are not too many moments in life where everything appears as beautiful as when you hear this for the first time.
4.Fauré – Requiem, in Paradisium – OK, here’s one more of those moments. It just blows my mind that someone has created this and that humans are even capable of such beauty.
5. Sebastien Tellier – La Ritournelle – I adore Sebastien Tellier, his incredible touch for romance, vulgarity, beauty. His concert in Malmo 2008 is the best I’ve ever seen, and this is my absolute favourite of his songs.
6. The Doors – End Of The Night – Their best song, I love it, morbid romance, I love it.
7.Vanessa Paradis – Joe Le Taxi – I just keep returning to this song, it’s so great, it’s incredible.
8. The Platters – Smoke Gets In Your Eyes – This song I want to hear at my funeral, this is the one that started my infatuation with music, beauty, the live side of life you know, and it’s what I wanna hear when I go.
9. Tom Waits – San Diego Serenade – This again is so beautiful you just wanna give everything up and become it.
10.Julee Cruise – The World Spins – Well, again, beauty, all you need, I’ve kept listening to this since I was, what, ten, maybe 11?
Do you plan on catching any shows at Airwaves? Who are you interested in seeing and why?
Yeah sure, I want to see Ólafur Arnalds perform; I really like his stuff, very beautiful music.
Tell us about love.
Love, yeah, it’s all about the beauty, really. Love is beauty. Love is wanting to breathe, it makes everything else mundane and trivial, who gives a fuck about VIP lists when there’s love, I love that! Who cares if you’re on some crappy top ten whatever list with your fingers in the pants of royals and the rich when there’s love? Love will set you free, and there’s nothing you can do about it, ha ha.
