Music News In Brief: Cyber, Young Karin, Ólafur Arnalds and more!

Írena Sírena is a new single from the up-and-coming alternative pop duo Andy Svarthol, consisting of Egill Viðarsson (of Nóra) and Bjarki Hreinn Viðarsson. The track has garnered much attention and can already be heard frequently on the radio. The duo has promised to release more fresh stuff soon.

The Faroese visual artist and singer/songwriter Heiðrik just released the song “Change of Frame”. The song is from Heiðrik’s upcoming album “Funeral” and is accompanied by a music video directed by himself.

Electro duo Young Karin is back! They just released a new EP on Soundcloud featuring four brand new tracks.

Árni Svavar Johnsen of Electric Elephant recently released ‘Woods’, a track which can be bought on his Bandcamp site: arnimusic.bandcamp.com. All profits of the dreamy track run to Geðhjálp (The Icelandic Mental Health Alliance).

Ólafur Arnalds’ “Island Songs” project is over. Once a week Ólafur released a song and a video collaboration with local artists around Iceland, giving his fans something to look forward to each Monday for the past seven weeks. The project has left behind seven beautiful and unique tracks, listen to them here.

Cyber is a sensational new rap duo comprised of two members of badass feminist rap outfit Reykjavíkurdætur. Cyber’s journey is just starting and they just released their debut EP named ‘Crap’. Don’t miss it—it is hot hot heat!

Artist space and concert venue Mengi has just released the beautiful album ‘Saumur’ by musicians Hilmar Jensson, Skúli Sverrisson and Arve Henriksen. The album was recorded in Sundlaugin (The Swimming Pool) studio in Mosfellsbær and the beautiful cover was created by renowned visual artist, Sara Riel.
