From Iceland — Icelandic Drag-Punks Æla Rise To Puke Again

Icelandic Drag-Punks Æla Rise To Puke Again

Published July 6, 2015

Icelandic punk-rock-noir quartet Æla (translated to English: ‘Puke’) have self-released their long-awaited second album ‘Vettlingatök’, along with a characteristically surreal and playful video for the track ‘Your Head Is My Ground.’

Conceived by Emil Asgrimsson (director) and Oskar Thor Arngrimsson (producer & actor), the video features the latter in what looks like a Disney princess outfit, vomiting dramatically through his glitter-coated beard.

Æla have been a fixture on Reykjavík’s music scene for years, coming to prominence via their intense punk rock sound, flamboyant stage outfits, screeched vocals and acrobatic live performances.

The new album is out now, with a July 16th release party to be thrown at Paddy’s bar in their hometown of Keflavík. More shows are apparently in the pipeline – further news on that as it arrives.
