Humble folk singer-songwriter Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir, aka. Lay Low, has just released a self-directed video to her song “One Of Those Nights” from the 2013 album ‘Talking About The Weather.’ Lovísa describes the song as “a stripped down hummaby that I wrote after one of those nights back home in Iceland.”
Check it out!
“Making my own video was something that I really wanted to have a go at, even though I don’t really have much experience,” Lovísa told the Grapevine in an email. “However, I did actually make a video for Benny Crespo’s Gang’s “Night Time” a few years ago with a Blackberry. It’s kind of strange, but I like it:
“For this, my first Lay Low video,” Lovísa continues, “it was a nice challenge to try and capture on film what I’ve been trying to express in the song. I’m sure that I’ll be doing more of this.”
Further discussing the process, Lovísa tells us the video “was mostly just filmed around my home in the countryside, and also at the beautiful Snæfellsnes beaches. I also put in there many layers of different sunsets seen from my backyard.”
Lay Low is currently on tour. She will be performing at the CMJ Music Week showcase in New York, NY, on October 23 and 24.
She also has four shows booked at Iceland Airwaves.
