The National Museum

Established first in 1863, the National Museum’s main attraction is the permanent exhibition, ‘Making of a Nation – Heritage and History in Iceland’, where visitors can experience how Iceland’s society has changed since the ninth century. Various temporary exhibitions are also on display.
