Unstoppable Thunder Of Viking Skipper Aron Gunnarsson Smites Premier League

Iceland’s totemic midfield general and infamous bearded warlord conqueror Aron “The Annihilator” Gunnarsson shook the Premier League once more yesterday when he thundered in a spectacular, acrobatic goal in a 2-1 win over fellow relegation contenders Wolves.

Having returned from injury to find his Cardiff side lingering at the bottom of the Premier League table, Aron’s presence has been decisive in stabilising the wobbling Welsh longship. Since his return, Cardiff’s confidence has grown immeasurably, resulting in their first wins of the season and a slow march to fighting form. Cardiff manager Neil Warnock publicly lauded the importance of his marauding Icelandic hero, saying: “Aron is a leader, a calming influence… he’s got that aura about him that we’ve missed.”

But as well as his disciplined defensive work, snuffing out enemy attacks before they can materialise, he’s also known for smashing in the odd screamer at the other end. His acrobatic equaliser saw him rise like he was shooting out of a geysir, spinning in mid-air and arrowing the ball into the top corner. The goal brought Cardiff back into the game, laying the groundwork for a long-range winner from Junior Hoilett that sealed the three points.

With Gylfi smashing in goals left right and centre, and Jóhann Berg having a decisive influence on Burnley’s attacking play, Iceland continues to leave a mark on the big stage of the Premier League this season.
