Fótbolti.net reports that Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson will be Iceland’s team captain as they play a friendly match against Ghana at Laugardalsvöllur tonight.

This will mark his first game since getting a knee injury in a match against Everton three months ago, with the exception of a half hour he spent playing against Norway last weekend, scoring one of Iceland’s two goals.

Aron Einar Gunnarsson, the national team captain, is still recovering from his injuries and will not be playing tonight. Head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson did however provide assurances that we will be seeing Aron on the pitch soon.

“All our players are in top form except Aron, who’s on the right track,” he said at a press conference today. “He’s better than we expected he’d be, and will be all set for Argentina.”

There are still some 2,000 tickets available for tonight’s match, which kicks of at 20:00 at the Laugardalsvöllur national stadium. Tickets can be purchased through midi.is.
