Temperatures will climb, but so will the wind and rain, over the course of the coming weekend.

Whenever planning your weekend, especially if you are heading out into the countryside, it is always a good idea to take a look at the weather forecast first. This weekend will bring with it a special blend of balmier temperatures, but increasing wind and rain, for many parts of the country.

While temperatures are expected to be in the low single digits through Thursday night, Friday afternoon will see the beginning of warmer temperatures moving across the country, from southwest to northeast Iceland. These temperatures will reach their peak on Sunday afternoon, as temperatures near 10°C.

At the same time, wind speeds will be relatively calm until Friday, when speeds could reach up to 12m/s, although these winds are expected to calm down a bit by late Saturday.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Iceland without ubiquitous rain, and you can expect plenty of that this weekend. Things will be relatively dry until Saturday morning, at which point rains will begin to fall more heavily in the south and southwest especially. These rains will move eastward, and slowly dissipate as Monday approaches.
