The wee hours of Saturday morning were a rollicking good time for one tourist, who ended up having a little too much fun and got himself arrested.

RÚV reports that the man, who was highly intoxicated, took the decision to scale the front of the National Theatre to access the exterior balcony. Once up there, however, he found himself entirely too intoxicated to climb back down.

Firefighters were called to the scene, and some members of the special forces also arrived in climbing gear, in order to extract the tourist. No hardcore climbing was necessary, it turned out; a cherry-picker was used to get the man back down to earth.

The tourist in question reportedly gave no explanation for his actions, nor was he able to say where he was staying. He was arrested and taken to jail, in order to sleep it off, after which time time he was questioned. No word on the results of that interrogation have been reported.
